I was in Australia in November 2003. Really good holiday, but quite a busy one as well considering we travelled northwards up the east coast in something that looked like a cross between a transit van and a winnibago.
The itinery included :
- Flying into Melbourne with an hour's stop in Singapore
- Melbourne for 2 days
- Eden for 1 day
- Canberra for 2 days
- Sydney for 3 days
- Tuncurry-Forster for 1 day
- Yamba for 1 day
- Brisbane for 2 days
- Bundaberg for 1 day
- Rockhampton for 1 day
- Mackay for 1 day
- Townsville for 1 day
- Cairns for 2 days
Managed to do loads during that time (obviously) - including (in no particular order), climbing up Sydney Harbour Bridge, seeing kangaroos and koalas (not in the wild though), watching the Rugby World Cup final in a very lively pub in Cairns, scuba diving in the Great Barrier Reef, seeing sharks in Melbourne Aquarium, tour round a rum distillery, a giant pineapple(!) and loads of other things.
Then a flight back to Melbourne to catch the flight back to the UK.
The driving totalled 2935km or 1819miles !!!
Holiday 16 September 2005
