Travelling and being back in the UK - more specifically, London - was just strange, surreal and astonishing, moreso after nearly two years out of the country.
Seeing the wide variety of cars on the roads, not to mention the vast amount! Peo ple on the streets rushing to get to wherever it is that they are rushing to get to, the anonymousness (if that's a real word!) of being in a city of millions where you won't see anyone you know nearby. Plus, the variety of the accents and languages that you hear - either polish (or other east european), french, italian, german, english.
Then there's the weather. The great unpredictable english weather. I was surprised when I heard that it was supposed to be hot during the time that I was there. I thought that I would be feeling cold considering that I was coming from 29/30C to 23C (well it did go up to 25C on one day). But, no, I wasn't as cold as I thought I would be at all. During the day I was walking around in clothes that I had purchased to wear in St Lucia, albeit I did feel cold during the late evening.
I did enjoy being back. I did a trip to a local Tesco store to get a few bits for back home and wanting to get some chocolate I was lost when I saw a whole aisle full of chocolate and couldn't make the decision as to what to get. The amount of choice, just overwhelmed me completely.
Inbetween all the shopping that I had to do, I met up with a few friends while I was there and it was great seeing them all again and catching up with all the news and gossip that i've missed out on.
Like with any holiday, it has to come to an end. The flight back to St Lucia was uneventful and I was willing time to go by quickly so that I could get back to the life that I've grown used to and get to where I now call home.
