Well, I finally have my St Lucian Work Permit!!!

After way too much driving up and down to Castries and to-ing and fro-ing between the Labour Department, the Treasury office and Immigration, I finally managed to get all the correct paperwork, payment sorted out and passport stamped and having to walk up 93 steps multiple times in the process (and yes I did count them all)

Now, that I have my work permit, my stay here is now for a whole year, so I now don't need to keep going back to Immigration once a month.

I now have that feeling as though I belong here now. Over the past year, I've felt as though i've been in some type of limbo. Feeling a sense of belonging as this has been my home for the past two years that I've been here, but not completely (or should that be not officially) belonging as I've been classed as a visitor (a long-term visitor at that!).

I feel as though i'm one step closer to calling this island - warts and all - home.
